Fine’ry The New Rouge Smells Like Baccarat Rouge 540 But…

I think we need to sit down and review all the new Fine’ry Spring 2023 Perfumes. First up is the new Fine’ry The New Rouge that’s one of 7 new scents available now at Target in Eau de Parfum and Body Mist formulas. I haven’t been lucky enough to see any of these at my local stores so I ordered The New Rouge along with Pistachio Please at target.com. I was most curious about these two but now that I’m seeing what the fragrances are dupes for I want to try others as it appears we have a Phlur Missing Person and Glossier You dupe in this new Spring 2024 batch of scents.
As I guessed in an earlier post I did about these Fine’ry The New Rouge is indeed a Baccarat Rouge 540 dupe of sorts. I love BR540 but it’s so mainstream I’m sort of sick of smelling it everywhere I go. There are SO many dupes of it at this point I wouldn’t be too surprised if Maison Francis Kurkdjian isn’t taking a hit in sales on the original as who wants to spend $300+ when you can find an almost exact duplication of the scent for around $20-$40.
I do own the original and I’ve smelled a lot of dupes out there and some are incredible but Fine’ry The New Rouge isn’t the best dupe I’ve smelled.

Fine’ry The New Rouge arrived in a sapphire blue glass bottle with a simple white label and a plastic cap. The bottle has a modern and simple look that’s elegant. The bottle is 2 oz in size and will set you back $37. The original Baccarat Rouge 540 is $325 for 2.4 oz which makes this a bargain price to say the least. One thing to note since their launch the collection of perfumes has gone up a smidge in price as last year they were $34.49 and this year they are $36.99 exactly.

Fine’ry does tend to go viral fairly fast. New Rouge is sold out online but check your local stores as it might still be available in stores. As always, I blame TikTok plus people are just really hungry for dupes of more expensive, luxury items, and who can blame anyone for that considering the current state of the economy? And hell, even when the economy is good who doesn’t like a cheap thrill?
I compared the notes of Fine’ry The New Rouge to Baccarat Rouge 540 below and as you can say they do share one of the same top notes of Saffron but the others are incredibly different yet they still smell very similar to one another.
TOP: Saffron, Tagette FlowerMID: Sugar Cane, Jasmine SambacDRY: Moss, Amber, Musk
TOP: Saffron and JasmineMIDDLE: Amberwood and AmbergrisBASE: Fir Resin and Cedar
Is Fine’ry The New Rouge a dupe for Baccarat Rouge 540? Not exactly. They both smell a lot alike but I do think that the original BR540 is a bit sweeter and has a bit more depth. The New Rouge lacks the same sweetness. But honestly, if you pass me in the hallway or I’m riding with you in an elevator and you’re wearing this my nose won’t be able to tell if it’s this or the original BR540. The scents do have the same warm, cozy hug dry down I love so much. I don’t think I have to go over what it smells like as at this point everyone is very familiar with how BR540 smells but if you don’t know how it smells just think sweet, naughty cotton candy!
Is Fine’ry Perfume long-wearing? I think that’s the most important question when it comes to duplications like this. I think the New Rouge performs quite well but you do need a few squirts for the best throw and longevity. Regardless, it lingers beautifully and provides a beautiful warm cocoon of fragrance throughout the day!
Fine’ry The New Rouge is a beautiful scent and take on the original BR540. As I said it’s not an exact dupe but at this price point you’d have to be a perfume connoisseur to tell the difference between the two.
