Jill Biden’s ‘Willow the White House Cat’ takes inspiration from her feline friend
Simon & Schuster revealed on Wednesday, Mar. 27 that “Willow the White House Cat” recounts the journey of the short-haired tabby cat to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, as AP News reports. As Willow navigates her new surroundings in Washington D.C., she discovers a wealth of experiences and encounters diverse individuals at her residence in the White House.
The co-author of “Willow the White House Cat” is famous children’s author Alyssa Satin Capucilli, as per People. In addition, the book’s illustrator is Kate Berube.
In a statement, Biden explained, “In her exploration of the White House, Willow quickly discovers the rich history and the remarkable individuals who keep the ‘People’s House’ functioning.”
She further adds, “Making many new friends along the way, Willow’s journey gives the world a ‘cats-eye’ view of all the ins and outs of America’s most famous address.”
Willow joined the Biden family in January 2022. The cat’s name comes from Jill Biden’s hometown of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. Their initial encounter occurred during a campaign event in the state in 2020. There, Willow leaped onto the stage where the First Lady was delivering a speech.
Additionally, Biden has already established herself as a bestselling author in the realm of children’s literature. She has released titles like Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops, and Joey: The Story of Joe Biden.
Now, her upcoming book puts the family’s beloved furry companion at the forefront.
“Willow the White House Cat” is set for release in June 2024.
