Are Eyeshadow Palettes Still Popular? Here Are a Few You Might Want!

Eyeshadow Palettes have come a very long way but you have to wonder and ask yourself, “Are Eyeshadow Palettes still popular today?” To answer that question you might to look back to the really early days 2000s when brands like Tarte, Urban Decay, and Too Faced were all creating innovative eyeshadow palettes with 15 or more shades and in doing so they changed how we look at eyeshadow and even how we purchase in to this day.
I can recall a great buzz and excitement when there was a new palette that was dropping almost every other day. It’s been years since eyeshadow palettes have taken the stage but I don’t think anyone who lived through that era can’t say there wasn’t a lot of excitement (and yes, some hype too!) that came with a brand new shadow palette launch. Things became repetitive for sure but no one can deny that palettes really changed the world of eyeshadow as we know it and in some ways eliminated solo and single eyeshadow shades. There are still brands that have single shades readily available in their catalog like MAC Cosmetics but many brands like Urban Decay, Tarte, Too Faced, and even luxury brands like Tom Ford have or introduce single eyeshadows.
I still think I get excited a little about a new palette. I like variety as much as the next person and it’s fun to get a palette with several hundred shades to choose from. But my logical side always steps in to remind me I likely already all these shades already and wouldn’t it be nicer to either have a smaller palette or even some single shades to choose from. Do you think eyeshadow palettes are still popular? Do you still find them appealing? A few new ones have popped up the last few weeks and I’ve gathered them up below for a little discussion! I know with the Sephora Spring Savings Event coming around I have at least one of these on my wish list even though I do feel somewhat done with palettes. And don’t forget eyeshadow palettes come with a lot of pros and cons as well! You get a lot of variety, tons of bang for your buck, but storage and travel can be tricky not to mention repeititve colors!
Let’s take a look and see what you think!

Too Faced Mini Born This Way Complexion-Inspired Eyeshadow Palette $29Ok, so, count me surprise. I wasn’t prepared to like this palette as much as I did. They’re somewhat smallish for the price but as I get older I do appreciate a smaller shade range and this covers exactly what I need! Do I have shades like this in my stash already? Possibly! But this is a solid, travel worthy palette to get a beautiful look without a ton of know how!

Too Faced Born This Way Warm Ember Nudes Mini Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Golden Girl, Cream Puff, Rose-ty Toasty, Warm Ember, Bring the Heat, Sizzle)
MAKEUP BY MARIO Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette: The Neutrals $50People went absolutely insane for this palette when it dropped a few weeks ago and although, I didn’t get it at the time after swatching it I can see why they are loving it. The neutral toned shade range is harder to come by in a nude, natural brown eyeshadow world and that’s what makes this one so special!

Danessa Myricks Beauty Groundwork: Blooming Romance – Palette For Eyes, Brows, Face & Lips $65If you want one palette to use everyday of your work life might I recommend the Groundwork: Defining Neutrals – Palette For Eyes, Brows, Face & Lips? I wasn’t sure about palette when it launched but it grew on me and before you know it I had it in my cart. That was back in November of last year and please do fast forward today and I’ll let you know I use this almost every day for my work looks. It’s just a basic shade range that I find myself absolutely in love with which is why I’m going to purchase the Blooming Romance version as well! I have a feeling it’ll be as loved as the original!

HUDA BEAUTY Creamy Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette $32The world will disagree with me on this one but Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Palettes somehow always end up in my “use often” stash. I have several of her palettes and you’d think I’d them since her shadows tend to be rather dense (but not dry) but they still produce the smoothest eye looks ever and always come in such flattering shades for my eye tone. I haven’t tried these new ones but apparently the formula is a lot better than her other launches!

Natasha Denona Hy-per Natural Face Palette $62Some of my best loved palettes are from Natasha and I’m always up for a new one! This new one packs in bronzers, blushes, and beautiful eyeshadows for a complete face and eye look!

ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr O/S X WICKED Unlimited Eye & Face Palette $49These are the days I question myself as I know damn well I’m not into these shades but the theater geek me is squealing, “BUT IT’S A WICKED PALETTE!”

HUDA BEAUTY Pretty Grunge Eyeshadow Palette $69I’ve waffled on this one for so long and at some point I know I’ll cave as I’m just wanting to re-live my Pearl Jam era!

NARS Afterglow Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette $60NARS is hit or miss with their shadow palettes but I constantly find myself drawn to them! I just really love the color stories they do. Does anyone feel the same? Or am I alone over here!

Do you still find eyeshadow palettes appealing? Are any on your wish list? Which ones?
