Homeless dogs have to fight for survival. They must search for food, water, and shelter, making their time on the streets extremely stressful. They battle so much on their own, which is why animal rescuers are essential. When Geoffrey was first rescued, he was taken to a foster home. A kind woman with Pinky Paws Search and ResQ happily opened her heart and home to the deserving pup. Geoffrey remained with his foster mom, her other dogs, and her husband for quite some time. Understandably, he got comfortable there. He was treated like a king and became an intricate part of the pack.

But he couldn’t stay there forever. His foster family had to secure a forever home for him, and that’s exactly what they did. But what his foster mom didn’t quite understand was that Geoffrey really didn’t want to leave. She thought he’d adjust nicely to his new family, but all he did was cry because he missed her so much.

Unable to bear the heartbreak, he ran away, hoping to find his way back home. Deep down, he believed that was where he was meant to be. On his journey, he got lost and was hit by a car. Despite the accident, Geoffrey kept running. Both his foster mom and new mom searched for him for a long time, but they couldn’t find him.
When his foster mom received some important information about Geoffrey, she hurried to investigate. She found out he was hiding in a warehouse and the workers didn’t know what to do. Geoffrey was so scared that he chose a hiding place where he felt safe and refused to budge. But once his foster mom arrived and he heard her voice, he relaxed a bit and poked his head out.

The reunion is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. The woman had no idea that Geoffrey was this attached to her. Had she known, she would have never let him go in the first place. In the video, the pup melts in her arms, relieved and exhausted. Even though his new home was great and full of love, Geoffrey knew where he truly belonged.

Now, he’s the happiest dog because he gets to spend time with the people who mean the most to him. He especially loves to sing in the car with his dad, and it’s the cutest thing! Geoffrey was also so happy to see the rest of his doggy family and couldn’t wait to snuggle!
We are over the moon that Geoffrey is safe and sound. We are grateful that his new mom understood she had to let him go for him to be happy. Both women have hearts of gold. To see Geoffrey’s full story, play the video below.
