Prince William Friends Support Him Amid Kate Middleton’s Cancer Battle

Amid his wife’s cancer treatment, Prince William is seeking all the familial support he can get, but after his falling out with his brother Prince Harry, the future King is looking elsewhere. The siblings’ rift was seemingly part of Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as working members of the royal family in 2020.

“When two people in a family fall out, it makes life very difficult not only for them but for the rest of the family too,” Jennie Bond said, via OK! magazine. “Loyalties are tested and there is no easy answer. This is a time when William needs all the love and support he can get from his family,” adding, “His brother is not, and will not, be here to help or provide a shoulder to cry on.”

Bond explained that William is finding support and friendship in his cousin, Peter Phillips. “And so I’m really glad that William has a cousin who is almost like a brother to him in Peter Phillips. Peter is incredibly down to earth, solid, and has been there for both William and Harry in good and bad times.” Bond continued: “He formed a physical bridge between them when Harry came back for their grandfather’s funeral as he walked between the brothers—as if to keep the peace.”

Several royal experts revealed that the brotherly bond is so sour it could impact the future King’s rule. “They were really, really close and this is what makes it so sad that they’re now so far apart,” said royal expert Charles Rae to The Sun.

“When William becomes king, I always believed Harry would be one of his top advisers. I think that’s out of the window,” he continued. “They had each other. And it was them against the rest of the world but of course, now it’s not happening.”

Rumors of a reunion between the Royal brothers swirled when Harry was planning to go back to the UK amid their father King Charle’s cancer diagnosis. “William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children [to the U.K.] and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far,” author Tom Quinn told The Mirror on Monday, April 1.

Harry reportedly found out about his sister-in-law’s medical news like the rest of the world—via the TV. “It is understood that Kate’s cancer diagnosis was not shared in advance with Harry and Meghan,” The Times of London reported on March 23, 2024. “Several sources confirm that there were no such conversations and it is thought Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis from television, at the same time as the public.”
