Is Indara a Sith Master In The Acolyte?

If you’ve been watching The Acolyte, you might know that the Sith is creeping up into the plot with Qimir. But there might be a hidden Sith in the shadows according to some Star Wars fans.

The events of the show take place over a hundred years before the original Star Wars series. This was a time when the Sith weren’t even a threat to Jedis, nor were they in the front of their minds. However, this might all change when Qimir threatens the galaxy along with Mae, who’s a Sith trained assassin and kills Indara in the first episode.

Episode 7 of The Acolyte is a flashback to when Mae and Osha were found by Jedi masters Indara, Sol, Kelnacca, and Indara’s Padawan Torbin. Their initial mission was to find a vergence in the galaxy and encounter the witches led by Aniseya and Koril who are reluctant to hand their twin daughters over to the Jedi. After much deliberation, Aniseya agrees to Osha’s wishes of being trained by the Jedi, but is killed by Sol due to a misunderstanding. Koril and the witches possess Kelnacca to avenge her lover’s death. At the last possible second, Indara intervenes and uses the Force to end the possession and the Jedis escape the mass destruction that followed. After that episode, many fans theorized that Indara isn’t who we think she is.

Is Indara a Sith Master?

We don’t know for sure, but fans are thinking that it might be the case because of some unaddressed motives. “I’ve been saying this for WEEKS now and I’m convinced after last episode it’s true,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “She faked her death from Mae. She lied to the Jedi council before that. She’s putting plans in motion now for some uncertain reason that we will discover. She wants to know how those damn twins were created.”

One fan also wrote that the driving plot of the episode was in the hands of Indara. They wrote, “she wasn’t given orders to find a vergence, she did so on her own without the will of the council. she never actually sends them messages, hence why they don’t go back to Coruscant and why the council “said no” to training Mae and Osha…we never actually see her communicating with them.”

During initial interviews about her character, Carrie-Anne Moss opened up about how her character’s introduction already proves her overall power. “We meet her in a mysterious way, and initially through a very powerful fight,” she told Empire. “She’s very physically strong, she’s very mentally strong. I loved a lot of things about her. But [particularly] the containment.” She continued, You’re fighting against so much to keep it right here [gestures to her centre], but also to have the power. When you have power through containment, that’s my sweet spot. This was, I think, one of the most contained characters I’ve ever played.” There’s a larger mystery to Indara’s intentions and hopefully, we could see more of it in future episodes.
