King Charles Funeral Plans Reportedly Revealed Amid Cancer Diagnosis

In February 2024, news broke that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer. Since then, there have been conflicting reports about the nature of his illness and recovery. In August, a report emerged about the royal‘s supposed funeral plans.

“The business of planning his funeral has already begun,” an insider told In Touch. “Unpleasant as it seems … The palace is giving the impression that Charles is on the mend, but he’s still very sick. Still, he’s the king, and palace officials are practical enough to know death is a possibility.”

The tabloid made an unverified claim that the monarch had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer—a highly aggressive and painful form of the disease that often only shows symptoms in its late stages, meaning its survival rate is low, per John Hopkins—and was given two years to live.

It’s important to note that Buckingham Palace has made no such announcement, so take that part of the report with a grain of salt, but given he is an aging Head of State, the fact that his funeral plans are being considered is very likely. “Officials will make sure a funeral for the king meets his wishes and expectations while following proper protocol,” the insider continued to In Touch. “Charles at least can find some peace in that.”

Despite his health, Charles has resumed his royal duties and according to some eyewitnesses, he’s looking well. “Even just to talk to people, he’s amazing, but I think he looked a lot better than he has done,” onlooker Joanne Barker told Hello! magazine in July after attending a service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Norfolk. “He was walking quite well. I think he seemed in good spirits, he was lovely and he had a laugh with us.”
