Khristianne Uy, a.k.a. Chef K, is making the phrase “you are what you eat” easy to live by with her new SpoiledChild collaboration. The Los Angeles-based culinary artist—whose clients include the Kardashians, Ryan Seacrest, Salma Hayek, and Charlize Theron—joined forces with the popular hair and skin care brand on a smoothie recipe that makes growing your tresses taste so good.
Dubbed “liquid gold” by Chef K, the recipe features two tablespoons of the brand’s E27 Extra Strength Liquid Collagen, packed with vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, which promotes plump skin and healthy hair. Chef K combines the liquid collagen with bananas, fresh mango, an orange, bee pollen, honey, turmeric, ginger, and milk. The creation is paired with a charcoal coconut swirl base that features charcoal powder, coconut yogurt, coconut cream, and avocado. It is then topped off with a coconut yogurt chia swirl that includes coconut yogurt, honey and chia. (Scroll down for detailed instructions and a full ingredient list.)
Chef K—who has been an avid user of SpoiledChild for some time, praising the brand for thickening her once “thinning” hair—explained that she was very intentional about the ingredients. Mango was a no-brainer as the fruit is a “favorite” for her main clients and charcoal provided the perfect “edgy” contrast and reflected the essence of her own “pretty much all black” aesthetic. Furthermore, Chef K explained that charcoal is detoxifying, and paired with the gut health properties of the liquid collagen and probiotic yogurt, the drink is powerfully beneficial. “I packed a lot in one sip,” Chef K joked to StyleCaster, adding that the chia adds “texture and crunch.”

Skin and hair health are especially important to Chef K—considering her decades-long career has required her to acquire extensive knowledge of food and how it impacts the body. Additionally, her long hours in the kitchen, in front of a stove or oven, have shown her the importance of prioritizing a good regimen. “The first thing I do when I wake up is chug water and take a full shot of collagen. I wash my face and always apply a toner. I’m big on vitamins. I take vitamin D, B, C, and omega-3s daily.”
“People don’t realize how good omegas are for the skin,” Chef K explained. She went on to recommend good fats like sweet potatoes for glowing skin, olive oil for detoxing, and dark berries, which can help reduce signs of aging. “The darker the better,” she shared. As far as food items that are not-so-good for the skin, Chef K called out white rice, processed foods, like chips, and dairy products.
Other helpful tips she’s learned from her high-profile clients. “Sunscreen. Sunscreen. Sunscreen. I cannot stress that enough. I love the sun, but it’s not hydrating and I’ve learned through my clients that it’s key, that and frequently changing pillowcases.”
