He previously owned owned 20.4 million TKO shares last November, and as a result, will still own around 15 million shares in the company. On April 2024, Endeavor agreed to purchase 1.64 million shares of McMahon’s Class A common stock of TKO (also for $89.01 per share) for a total of of $146.2 million.
This isn’t the first time that McMahon stepped down from his role. In 2022, he retired from being CEO and Chairman of WWE after being investigated by the WWE board. His daughter Stephanie replaced him but he returned as a Chairman for the organization.

In May 2024, Grant agreed to stay her civil case while McMahon is the subject of a federal investigation to determine if federal law was broken. In 2022, the WWE began investigating a $3 million hush-money settlement that McMahon that eventually involved four victims who were paid a total of $12 million. Grant alleged that McMahon had agreed to pay her $3 million in 2022 in return for a NDA, but stopped paying after only $1 million.
In 1992, Rita Chatterton who was the WWE’s first woman referee, accused McMahon of rape and reached a settlement with her in 2023. He also faced a sexual harassment accusation from a tanning bar employee in Boca Raton, Florida in 2011.
