However, there were also other reports, with OK! Magazine saying the cause of their breakup was that Garfield had a one-night stand while dating Stone. But what was the real cause of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s breakup? Did they just drift apart or did Andrew Garfield cheat on Emma Stone?

Neither of the two has ever confirmed that the reason for their breakup was indeed cheating, and Garfield and Stone remain friends to this day. In fact, they have always had nothing but good things to say about each other, even after their breakup. So, we probably want to take reports of cheating on his part with a grain of salt. However, those reports do exist.
OK! Magazine reported at the time that Stone was “horrified,” and after Garfield started acting distant “basically called him out on his behavior and demanded to know exactly what was going on.” Then the actor allegedly confessed to Stone about the one-night stand. These reports have resurfaced in the last few days, as people look into Garfrield’s dating history. “He felt truly terrible about it,” the source said. “He says that he met a girl in a bar and that he would never dream of doing anything like that ever again.”
“She never thought that he’d be capable of this in a million years, and she’s beside herself,” the insider also told OK! Magazine, adding that “Emma’s getting all of her stuff together and looking for a new place in L.A.,” after she found out. “She feels betrayed and says that she can’t be with someone she doesn’t trust. She knows that they can’t be together every second of every day and doesn’t want to be constantly worried that he’ll cheat again.”

The timeline of events isn’t clear, but reports indicate after the cheating allegations Stone moved out of the house the two shared and the two broke up.
However, the two seem to still communicate like two good friends, with Garfield sharing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in 2022 that Stone was one of the people who messaged him to ask if he was indeed going to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“Emma kept on texting me,” he said. “She was like, ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about!’ She was like, ‘Shut up, just tell me,’ And like, I honestly… I kept it going, even with her, it’s hilarious. And then she saw it and was like, ‘You’re a jerk!’”
Stone is now married to Dave McCary, who she met in 2016 while filming an episode of SNL. The two have a daughter named Louise Jean McCary. Garfield, meanwhile, is still single – though he did go viral for his flirty chat with Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg, so perhaps some there’s love in his future fans can invest in as much as they invested in his relationship with Emma Stone.
