Ben Affleck Responds to Jennifer Lopez Divorce Rumors

Maybe there’s no trouble in paradise after all? Ben Affleck might have responded clearly to Jennifer Lopez divorce rumors.

On May 19, 2024, Ben Affleck picked up Lopez outside the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California. In paparazzi photos obtained by People, the two seem to be all smiles while they were both sporting their wedding rings. They were also seen together in the West Hollywood area of Los Angeles, near BOA Steakhouse and Soho House. They were seen previously together supporting their kids on May 16, which was 47 days after their latest public appearance.

InTouch Weekly first reported about the alleged breakup. “The writing is on the wall—it’s over. They’re headed for a divorce—and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!” a source told the outlet. “He’s focusing on his work and his kids now. Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”

Another source told Us Weekly that the two aren’t heading to Splitsville, but they are having frequent arguments. “Jen and Ben are having issues in their marriage,” the insider disclosed, adding that it started “a few months ago as Jen had started ramping up work commitments and prepping for her tour.”

The source continued, “Jen is very focused on work,” the source tells Us. “They are on two completely different pages most of the time.” Three sources confirmed to the site that they are not divorcing and are aiming to resolve their problems.

In J.Lo’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Ben admitted, “Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.’ Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of, like, you’re going to marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t want the water.’ We’re trying to learn to compromise.”

J-Lo and Ben met in 2001 on the set of their movie, Gigli, in which they played love interests. They started dating in 2002, around the time Ben also starred as the love interest in the music video for J-Lo’s song, “Jenny From the Block.”

In November 2002, Ben proposed to J-Lo with a 6.1-carat pink diamond ring from Harry Winston, and the two got engaged. Two days before they were scheduled to tie the knot in September 2003, J-Lo and Ben announced that they had postponed their wedding and eventually called it off.

J-Lo and Ben got engaged for a second time in April 2022 and married in July 2022 at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. “We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” J-Lo wrote in her newsletter, On the JLo, at the time. She continued, “They were right when they said, ‘all you need is love’.”
