Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder Review & Swatches

Hey, did you hear? Catrice introduced a few new shades of Under Eye Brightener and also, there’s a new Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder to go along with it!
Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder is a new setting powder that sets concealer and brightens up the eye area. It’s available in four shade selections and priced at $6 (use code 58EB5HH05W6J for 10% off your Catrice order at Amazon).
I really like the pink shade of the Under Eye Brightener and they do the same shade in the new Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder but pink setting powders do nothing for my under eye area. They just make me look rather pasty! Thankfully enough, they have this available in a warm nude and although, I do prefer a banana shade I decided to give this a try!

Don’t buy this. Catrice has some brilliant products but this sadly isn’t one of them. First off, think about it, this is six bucks for 0.08 oz. You might have to pay twice that six dollars but you can get double or more product from any number drugstore brands. This is a pretty small amount of product and even if I really loved the formula I find the smaller pot is frustrating. I find it a bit messy to get my brush into it and if you use a triangle powder puff for baking you’ll experience the same mess. It’s just too small a pot! Granted, this isn’t really meant to bake with and I don’t bake so that’s fine by me! But if you are using a smaller blending brush just to set concealer with this is still too small a pot to get your brush into.
Secondly, the shade range isn’t it for this girl. They really missed the mark with the shades. Why is there no banana shade? They go from a pale pink to what they call a warm nude and have two darker shades called Golden Toffee and Dark Mocha. I thought that the Warm Nude would work out for me but it’s SUPER pasty pale. Honestly, when I purchased this I had some sort of high hope it would be some sort of dupe to the old Skin Food Skin Food Salmon Dark Circle Powder Review but it absolutely is not. The shade is warm too pale for me. I feel like the pink won’t work, this is too pale, and the other two shades look a little too dark. So, yeah, shade range is not really great in my opinion.

The formula isn’t particularly friendly for me either. It’s soft, silky, finely milled but terribly dry. I have drier under eyes and I prep very, very, well before anything goes under them but even after all my prepping this still settled into my finer lines. The texture is lovely but it’s just a bit too matte for me. It does apply easily on top of concealer and initially looks very smooth but after about 30 minutes it sinks right into my finer lines and starts aging me terribly.
Sadly, Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder just that great a formula. I wouldn’t recommend this one for a purchase. There are tons of loose powders on the market that are way better. It’s a no from me!

Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder is a new loose setting powder that’s supposed to brighten the under eye area as it brightens it. This powder is available in four shade selections which are 0.08 oz each and $6. I thought they nailed the formula. It’s soft, silky, and finely milled. It applies very easily and sits nicely on concealer. Unfortunately, after 30 minutes of wear it begins to fall into my finer lines and ends up looking terribly dry not to mention the shade is incredibly pasty under my eyes. I got Warm Nude. It looks like a lighter peach in the pot but under my eyes it looks white. Not a good look at all!

Drying, falls into fine lines easily.
Small for the price.
Frustrating packaging (pot is too small).
Shade range is very limited.

Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder might be a nice budget pick if you don’t want to spend $10+ for a setting powder but the formula isn’t one I’d recommend for drier eyes.
