Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen

Hello, beautiful creatures! Today I wanted to talk to you about Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen. This is a new to me product that has been around for a while. Colorescience created this product in four highly-flexible shades. I’ve read that the lightest shade Fair was reformulated to make it lighter. The original version would have been very orange on me, so I’m glad the new version was available when I purchased it.

About Colorescience
Colorescience is a cruelty-free skincare brand that also makes some beauty products. I’ve done sponsored content with the brand in the past and have enjoyed the products I’ve purchased as well. Their website states this is a vegan product.

What I’m Looking For in SPF
Last year, Dave and I started the search for a 100% mineral sunscreen. We have a short but specific list of requirements:

must be 100% mineral spf
must be SPF 50++++
must not cause breakouts
must work under makeup

It’s been more challenging than you can imagine to find a mineral sunscreen that meets all four of those requirements. Many of them are chalky and won’t blend out on my skin. They don’t work under makeup.
Affordability
My last requirement, and this is the one I’ve had to be the most flexible on, is affordability. I normally purchase my Canmake Mermaid Skin SPF 50++++ for $11-$13 a bottle, during a sale, and I save a lot of money. It’s around 40 ml. When you compare Mermaid Skin at $11 for 40 ml vs. Colorescience Flex at $54 for 55 ml, Mermaid Skin is clearly more affordable.
How to Apply SPF
I prefer to apply my SPF product, wait at least 10 minutes, and then do my makeup. If I need to reapply SPF during the day, I do it every 2 hours, or more frequently if I’m sweating profusely or in water. I set a timer on my phone to remind me to reapply or I will fry.
Does Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Leave a White Cast?
No, Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair does not leave a white cast on me. It leaves a muted pinky peach tint.
About Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50

The Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen is a lightly hydrating, antioxidant-rich, all-mineral SPF. It claims to protect against UVA/UVB, Blue Light, Pollution, and Infrared radiation, as well as be safe for sensitive skin.
The four shades available are Fair, Medium, Tan, and Deep. Colorescience says these uniquely flexible shades work on a very broad ran ge of skin tones. Many times in the past when I’ve tried 100% mineral SPF, it would be chalky and leave a white cast. This product starts out white and the pigment adapts to match your skin. In the past I’ve seen asian beauty products do this well.
One of the best things about the Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen is that it’s fragrance free! No migraine inducing SPF for me.
Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fair Swatch

I wanted to share swatches of Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair with you. I blended out a strip of it and put a dot next to it. You should be able to tell that the SPF starts out white and then turns into a sheer tinted SPF.
Astute Hex Squad members will note that the shade Fair appears slightly peachy, almost pink versus my skin. However, this shade is desaturated enough that it will work with my very fair neutral to cool yellow skin tone. This will not be visible under makeup.
The shade Fair works perfectly with Dave’s muted pink undertones. If you match to Missha 13, you will like this undertone.
Wearing Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fair

In the photo above I’m wearing Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair. No retouching or editing, taken on my iPhone 15 Pro Max forward facing camera. I’m still healing from my blepharoplasty surgery. It’s been around a month and my skin looks awful. I’m still not allowed to exfoliate or do my normal skincare routine.
Yes, this tint makes my face appear a little darker than my hands and my neck. However, the shade works well enough on its own for running errands. Would I be happier if it was more neutral or muted yellow? Yes.
Final Thoughts
Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair is my current pick for my favorite 100% mineral SPF. It doesn’t leave a white cast, it doesn’t turn me super orange, and it doesn’t cause me to break out.
I don’t know how well it wears under makeup yet, as that is a big dealbreaker for me. And the price definitely leaves something to be desired.
Naked Sundays is the next mineral SPF on my list to try. Have you tried them?
Or is there another 100% mineral SPF you love that I need to know about? Let me know!

On a Personal Note
In just a few days I have my next breast reconstruction surgery. While I wish it wasn’t necessary, I’m hopeful it solves my issues. I will not be working for at least a week while I’m recovering from that. Though the doctors are keeping me on rest for four to six weeks after that.
After that, I’ll have to go back to physical therapy. I’m hopeful that all the hard work I’ve put in since September 2023 in physical therapy will pay off and that I will have minimal complications. It’s been challenging to spend an entire year healing, so I’m ready to close the chapter on my breasts.
I plan to play Palworld during my downtime, once I can use a computer. Imagine if Monster Rancher, Pokemon, and ARK had a baby, that’s Palworld. Dave and I are playing on a customized private server with resources turned up so it’s more of an exploration, build, and capture creatures game for us. It’s a lot of fun.
I’m also keeping my eyes out for when Moonlight Peaks launches. Moonlight Peaks is a cozy vampire life game. Befriend the local werewolves, witches and mermaids, and maybe even find eternal love! It looks adorable and perfect for low key play.
And yes, I’m still playing Baldur’s Gate 3. I have 200+ hours in it with Dave and we’ve still got more to do.
If you want to say hi to me while I’m recovering, message me on Instagram, say hi in the Hex Squad group, or leave a comment! I read all comments and do my best to respond to them. I love hearing from you!
