What is The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives about?
The influencers are using #momtok as a platform to challenge stereotypes and religious-based patriarchy. Everything was shaken up after Taylor Frankie Paul and her husband at the time Tate admitted that they were participating in “soft swinging,” a form of non-monogamy that doesn’t involve penatrative sex. A lot of the show deals with the remaining influencers trying to detangle themselves from the rumors that they also participate in “soft swinging” and explore their sisterhood and the turbulent times that they have together.
The show also explores the different methods of practicing Mormonism between the influencers that are split up into “Sinners” and “Saints.” “There’s this stigma that all Mormons are supposed to live the same way or do live the same way,” Paul told Time. “The point of our show is that there are so many different ways of living Mormonism. It’s a spectrum.”
