A puppy, later named Monica, was abandoned in front of a restaurant. Sadly, passersby ignored her, either because they were too busy, didn’t care, or didn’t see her. Thankfully, one man moved by her plight, stopped to help. He threw some scraps of food on the ground, hoping to entice her. But she continued to stay curled up in a ball in the same spot she was left in. As the man spoke to her, she wagged her tail. The man was happy to make some progress.

The kind human gathered up a box with some blankets. He placed Monica inside and stroked her head. He handed her more food and some water, but she refused to eat or drink. She was certainly overwhelmed by her circumstances. The man took her to the vet clinic, where several engorged ticks were removed from her ears. She was then given a thorough checkup.

The vet confirmed Monica was only two months old. She was tired and anxious. It was time for her to rest– But first, the doctor and her rescuer had to get her to eat, which she finally did. After a day of being closely monitored, Monica’s spirits had lifted. She happily ran around the vet clinic and said hi to everyone she could.

Once cleared by the vet, the man was delighted to welcome Monica into his home. She delightfully ran around, exploring her new digs. In what seemed like a blink, Monica bonded with her new doggy sibling and grew into a magnificent dog.

Authorities have charged a New Jersey man with multiple counts of animal cruelty after they discovered several dogs in his care living in dangerous and violent conditions. Under current law, there is nothing preventing this man from owning, possessing, or caring for other animals in the future.
Thanks to this golden-hearted man, Monica is living a wonderful life, safe from harm and loneliness. The pup’s transformation from a scared puppy on the street to a happy, well-adjusted pet warms the heart and soul.
