Hours after Billy Ray Cyrus‘ messages about his ex-wife Tish Cyrus were leaked, Miley Cyrus was pretty clear about her stance in her familial relationships. The Hannah Montana alum has been vocal about her love for her mom in the past and continues to show their bond on social media.
Miley posted a BTS photo carousel of her in a bathrobe as she was getting ready for her Gucci photoshoot. Included was a picture of her hugging and smiling with her mom.
Page Six obtained text messages from Billy Ray reacting to Tish’s Call Her Daddy podcast and calling his ex-wife a “liar… a whore … Complete Skank. Scum of the earth. A fraud. Makes Deanna [sic] Lohan look like Mother Theresa [sic].” In audio recordings, Billy Ray called out Tish for being “impregnated by two different men, and had those two children before she met” him, adding, “Everyone knows devil’s a skank.”

The audio comes after a fiery exchange with his recent ex-wife Firerose about a Nicki Minaj performance. In the heated conversation, Billy Ray seemingly refers to himself in the third person and talks about his children with Tish “The other two children that were there was s–t that was there from a previous marriage before she met Billy Ray, by two separate fathers,” he said. “No, woman, I said that wrong. Not a previous marriage. The other two children that were there, she was impregnated by two different men and had those two children before she met Billy Ray.”
Miley Cyrus didn’t acknowledge her father as she won her first Grammy at the 66th Grammy Awards. She thanked her mom, her love, and her stylists. “I don’t think I forgot anyone — but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!” On David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction…, she confessed that she “inherited the narcissism” from Billy Ray, but loves her mother entirely.
Billy Ray Cyrus married Firerose in October 2023, and filed for divorce seven months later in May 2024. They cited irreconcilable differences as well as inappropriate marital conduct. Billy Ray divorced from Tish Cyrus in April 2022.
A day after the audio leak, Billy Ray Cyrus defended himself. “Hell yeah I was at my wit’s end,” he wrote on his Instagram stories. “As every day went by, I started realizing something was wrong. That’s before I knew she was fraud. I just knew something wasn’t right.”
He continued, “That was before I knew she was David Hodges’s ex-wife. That’s before I knew her parents’ last name. I had no idea she was arrested for felony residential burglary. I saw before my own eyes, everything I thought I knew about her, was a lie. She was trying to take over my career, my life and usurp the Cyrus name for her own gain. See you in court.”
