Last week I wrote about my skincare routine and I hope that it was useful, informative, entertaining (possibly not the last one but you can’t win them all!). I’ve been writing about beauty for 15 years and I get to try the majority of the skincare products that get launched onto the market: I’d say that, as far as skincare routines go, mine is pretty well-informed and has solid science behind it. It’s reliably effective. It would be a great starting point for a lot of people, so long as they don’t have significant concerns such as rosacea, or adult acne, or severe sensitivity. (In which case obviously, tweak it to suit.) So go and read that post – there’s a whole mini podcast to listen to that goes alongside it, if you just want to get the gist of it while you peel potatoes or cycle up the side of a mountain or paint your nails or fix the garage roof or whatever it is that you’re up to. There’s a twenty minute-long video, too, if you really want to immerse yourself! One of the things that occurred to me, as I was prepping the skincare post and sorting key products to mention as examples of each step, was that a lot of my most-used products were relatively affordable ones. Some were more of an investment (things like the LED mask, a couple of the retinoids, a few of the more high-powered serums) but I could find a good “budget” option for almost every single step. I’ve pulled these products together to create routines that I would (and do) follow but that are far more budget-friendly than the random, “mixed bag” routines I tend to naturally compile. These line-ups are potent and effective but everything, almost, is widely available on the high street or through big online retailers and at very, very sensible prices.
