The original Butter Gloss launched in 2013 and soon after that we got a Butter Gloss Intense finish and we even got Butter Lipstick! It seems like Butter Gloss has been around a lot longer than that for some reason but I do know it’s become a cult favorite product thanks to it’s moisturizing formula. I’m happy NYX decided to go with a shimmer version this time around! I was surprised they only did a few shades though as NYX is legendary for launching a slew of shades. Perhaps we’ll see more Butter Gloss Bling shades in the future.
I think the most beautiful part of this launch is the fact that in nearly ten years NYX hasn’t increased their prices too much. Butter Gloss Bling is $6 and 0.27 oz. It’s used to be 0.25 oz but not it’s a smidge bigger and a mere dollar more. I’m seeing so many products getting a price increase and the sizes are being decreased. It’s refreshing to see NYX hasn’t changed the price too much and the size is a bit bigger too!
The gloss comes in a fairly basic barrel with a sponge-tipped applicator for application. It’s small and should store and travel easily. I can’t tell a lie when I first saw it I had two thoughts that entered my head. The first was, “OH PRETTY!” I got the shade Shimmer Down and it’s a gorgeous shimmery orange copper! The second thought that quickly replaced the original was, “oh god this is going to be gritty and look metallic on my lips!” I love shimmer but I’m actually not into it in my lip products very much anymore. In the barrel, this looks metallic with a ton of gold shimmer. It looked a little gritty! But it’s not! The gold shimmer is very fine and adds just a touch of sparkle to lips! This is so not natural and pretty not at all overdone or too over the top! It’s not super pigmented but with a few layers I was able to get that pretty golden orange copper to show up on my lips.

The formula is moisturizing, feels very comfortable, and lightweight but wasn’t tacky, sticky, thick, or gooey. It does have the slip and buttery feel of the original Butter Gloss but on a bit of a lighter scale. It’s a very nice little gloss formula! It wore on me for about three hours before needing a touch up! I didn’t notice a flavor or fragrance.
NYX Butter Gloss Bling brought just the right amount of bling to my lips without being overly dramatic! The gloss formula is lovely to wear and applies easily. This is a nice little gloss if you’re shy around shimmer!

I thought the shimmer was very refined in this formula! It’s not over the top or dramatic and gives just a touch of pretty sparkle to lips. The gloss isn’t super pigmented but with a few layers you can get it to show up very nicely on lips. It has a glossy texture that feels lightly buttery and has the same slip and consistency as the original but on a bit of a lighter scale. It feels weightless and moisturizing on and doesn’t have any stickiness or tackiness to it. It wears for around three hours without migrating but does require a touch up as the wear is fairly short. It has no flavor nor any fragrance!
