Much-loved “manager cat” Horatio is set to make a full recovery after he was diagnosed with cancer in March. The resident feline of Seventh Son Brewing had made a name for himself, serving as the “assistant manager” and having a brew named after him. Now that the Ohio brewery’s kitty has finished his 19 radiation treatments, he will return to work soon.
‘Manager cat’ raises about $10,000 for charity, expected to make full recovery
Seventh Son Brewing might be known for its unique brew names. However, Horatio steals the spotlight for the regulars as the feline has quickly become a local celebrity. The beloved cat was found on the brewery’s patio as a kitten, per NBC4. Almost 10 years later, he is a full-grown feline ruling the Columbus brewery.
Unfortunately, the “manager cat” was diagnosed with cancer in March. He developed fibrosarcoma in his right hind leg and had to go through several rounds of feline cancer treatment.
Thankfully, Horatio’s humans expect the kitty to recover fully. As is often the case with cancer, there are chances of it making a comeback, but the chances are pretty low for Seventh Son Brewing’s “assistant manager.”
The brewery’s co-founder, Collin Castore, set up a GoFundMe page for Horatio and started selling a fundraising glass. Since the tabby cat’s diagnosis, the owners have been passionate about raising awareness about feline cancer and its treatment.
The proceeds from the GoFundMe and glass sales will be divided. So, 50% of the proceeds will go to the treatment of the “manager cat.” The rest will be split between Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund and UC Davis’ Feline Cancer Research Fund.
Horatio has managed to raise nearly $10,000 for charity. Castore noted that they will donate the proceeds to charity once the GoFundMe reaches its $20,000 goal. However, he will continue the GoFundMe and the fundraising glass sale if people want to continue donating, with the proceeds going to the charity funds.
