Supplements can be a great way to fill nutritional gaps and target health issues with the power of nature. This is true for both humans and pets. If you’ve been looking for a quality pet supplement line for your dog, I’d like to introduce you to pawTree.
This veterinarian, pet nutritionist, and animal sciences-backed brand has a long list of supplements for everything that ails our best friends. From cognitive support to flea and tick spray to anxiety chews, this company has created science-backed, natural supplements you can trust. I had a chance to try two of their most popular supplements on my two senior dogs. After using these products for a month, I am already starting to see results and my only gripe is that I didn’t start using them sooner.

About pawTree

PawTree was started by Roger Morgan, who, after decades in the pet industry, was on a mission to improve how we deliver nutrition to our furry family members. The company started with a line of quality, filler-free pet foods and has evolved to include a long line of supplements to help complement that nutrition. Today, they also sell pet toys, grooming products, and pet-centric gifts.
Where are pawTree Products Produced?
PawTree diets and supplements are made in the US with quality ingredients that meet their rigorous standards. Many of these ingredients are also sourced in the US while others are globally sourced but only from trusted partners.
Which Types of Pets Are pawTree Supplements Best Suited For?
This company has a long list of different supplement options, which means you’re likely to find something for just about every dog. They have many great products for senior dogs, such as joint supplements, cognitive support, fish oil, and more. They also have a line of calming supplements, chews, and toys for anxious dogs. Some of their supplements are tailored to more specific issues, such as their bladder support chews, flea and tick spray, and allergy supplements. Whatever kind of help your dog needs, you’re likely to find a matching pawTree product.

Key Features

There are many things about pawTree that set their supplements apart from the competition. Here, we take a look at a few of their key product features, including the ingredients they use, the palatability of their supplements, options, and price points.
Ingredients
PawTree started as a pet food company determined to make healthy diets that featured meat or fish as the first ingredient while being free of fillers, additives, and other nasty things. They apply this same philosophy for quality when creating their supplement products. Each of these offerings is made with scientifically proven natural ingredients, including herbs, amino acids, healthy fats, and extracts. And they don’t just stop at the most popular natural compounds for any given issue. Rather, they create holistic mixtures that often include a long list of beneficial active ingredients so your dog gets the most out of every product. This eye for quality extends to the inactive ingredients used in these products, as well. You won’t find any corn, fillers, or byproducts in these supplements. Instead, they’re made of natural, recognizable ingredients, such as brewer’s yeast, flaxseed, and salmon meal.
Palatability
All the thought that goes into the ingredients in these products isn’t just about making you feel better. These ingredients also go a long way to ensuring that your dog loves eating these supplements despite not knowing how good they are for them. The natural flavors added to most of the products help with this. Many of their chews contain healthy flavor enhancers such as cod liver oil, fruit juice, and salmon meal. The texture of the chews—soft and chewy—also helps to increase palatability. PawTree’s Aches Away with Hemp is one of the first glucosamine joint supplements I’ve tried that both my dogs happily eat. Even my cat merrily gulps down his pawTree chews.

Options
As we talked about above, pawTree has a ton to offer in both the supplements and pet diet departments. But even within each product, you’ll likely find some extra options. For instance, their Brain Drops soft chews are available in both small dog and large dog formulas. Not only does this specificity ensure your pet is getting exactly what they need, but it also helps with the price point by keeping the dosage down and ensuring you don’t have to buy more chews than you can use in a timely manner. Many of pawTree’s chew products are available in small or large pet formulas. Meanwhile, most of the liquid supplements are available in multiple sizes so you can get only as much as you need to ensure freshness throughout use. PawTree also offers one-time and recurring order options. Unfortunately, the recurring order option does not come with any discounts.
Price
In terms of price, pawTree is more on the premiere end of the cost spectrum. But this makes sense given the quality, effective ingredients they use. Their Aches Away joint supplement, for instance, might be more expensive chew for chew compared to others, but it also has more active ingredients than most. For example, it has 13 active ingredients while the leading dog glucosamine supplement has just four. The same thing can be seen with many of pawTree’s products.

Our 2 pawTree Product Reviews
1. Aches Away with Hemp

If your dog suffers from achy joints (or better yet, if they’re getting older but not yet afflicted by aches and pains) I highly recommend putting them on pawTree’s Aches Away with Hemp supplement. This joint supplement goes far beyond glucosamine to help your dog find relief. It has 13 active ingredients scientifically proven to improve mobility and reduce pain. Some of these ingredients include:

Hemp Seed Oil and Powder – This healthy fat is filled with Gamma-linoleic acid, which has been shown to reduce inflammation and pain.

Boswellia Serrata – This natural herb has been shown to decrease swelling and modulate the immune system, which may have benefits for dogs with osteoarthritis.

White Willow Bark – This ingredient contains salicin, nature’s version of aspirin. It’s also filled with anti-inflammatory flavonoids.

Yucca Schidigera – This natural extract contains powerful saponins that reduce inflammation, spasms, and pain.

In addition to these less common joint supplement ingredients, this product also contains all the joint supporting stars, including glucosamine HCL, omega fatty acids, and salmon oil. Like many of pawTree’s chews, this one comes in adorable heart shapes. They are chewy and easy to crumble. My dog Ragz, who detests almost every glucosamine chew she has ever tried, readily eats these up. Aches Away with Hemp is available in only one formula but is easy enough to dose for dogs and cats of all sizes. Pets under 25 pounds get one per day, while medium-sized dogs get two, and large dogs get three.

13 active ingredients

260mg of glucosamine

Omega-3, -6, and -9

Highly palatable

Soft and easy to crumble

A little pricey

Only one size available

2. Brain Drops

If you have an older dog, it’s never too soon to start them on a cognitive support supplement. PawTree makes that easy with their powerful Brain Drops product. This innovative formula includes eight ingredients scientifically proven to support brain health and maintain cognitive function. Some of the more notable ingredients include:

Amino Acids – Researchers have found that the ingestion of seven specific essential amino acids benefits cognitive function. This formula contains three of those amino acids.

DHA Gold – This form of DHA, which comes from algae, has been shown to improve cognitive test scores in older dogs.

Ginkgo Biloba – This tree extract has been proven to reduce the symptoms of Alzheimer’s and dementia by protecting nerve cell function in the brain.

In addition to these ingredients, this formula also contains ALA, L-carnitine, and betain. Like other pawTree products, this one comes in cute little heart-shaped chews. Salmon meal and fruit juice make them highly palatable. They are also very easy to break apart. Brain Drops are available in a small dog and large dog formula. Each bottle contains 60 chews that are sized to deliver the perfect amount of these powerful ingredients to have a beneficial effect. The number of chews your dog will need depends on their size. Their size and breed will also determine when you should start using this product. Large dogs can begin this regime at around five years of age, while medium dogs should wait until seven years. PawTree recommends small dogs wait until around the age of ten to begin using it. I started my fifteen-year-old Chihuahua on it recently due to an increase in cognitive decline-related behaviors. While I have seen some improvements, I really wish I had started him on it when he was younger, before any symptoms started.

Multiple proven active ingredients

Available in small and large dog formulas

Soft heart-shaped chews

Enticing even to picky eaters

Developed by veterinarians

Greatest effects if started before symptoms begin

Our Experience With pawTree Supplements
Since both my dogs are in their golden years, there is no shortage of pet supplements in my pantry. After researching pawTree and their ingredients, I was more than willing to add a few of their products to my regimen. For Papyrus, my fifteen-year-old Chihuahua, I chose their Brain Drops supplement. For the last few months, he has been showing signs of cognitive decline. Specifically, he wakes up multiple times per night disoriented and anxious. For Ragz, my thirteen-year-old Dalmatian mix, I chose their Aches Away with Hemp product. She has always dealt with some lameness in her left shoulder but has gotten overall more achy in the last couple of years. While she has been on many different glucosamine supplements, I have never been overly satisfied with the results. When I saw how many additional joint supporting ingredients this product had, I was eager to give it a try. When I first received the products I was immediately awed by the cute heart shape of both chews. I also love the soft texture and how easy they are to crumble onto the dogs’ meals. Usually, I crumble their supplements to make sure they don’t spit them out. But in this case, I do it to spread the flavor over their food as a little treat, because they absolutely love how these supplements taste.
Both dogs took to their supplements easily without any negative side effects. Both of them have been on their respective products for about a month now. I have already noticed a difference in how stiff and gimpy Ragz is both in the mornings and after our daily walks. She seems to be in less pain and has a much easier time getting up and down. The progress has been slower with Papyrus but I have seen some improvement. He is still struggling with sleep disturbances but is much less anxious overnight when he does wake up. This makes it easier to get him settled back down and sleeping again. My only regret is that I did not find this product sooner for him. I think if I had started it around age 10 as the company recommends, I could have preserved more cognitive function rather than fighting against decline.
The same can be said for the Aches Away with Hemp. While I have been using glucosamine for both dogs since they hit their senior status, I wish I had started them on this superior product sooner. While both of these supplements carry a significant price tag, I do plan to continue using them even after these bottles run out next month. Given the improvements I’ve seen so far, I believe things will only continue to get better for both pups the more I use these supplements.

Conclusion
If you have a senior dog, I highly recommend taking a look at pawTree’s Aches Away with Hemp and Brain Drops supplements. These, like all the other products this company sells, are loaded with effective, health-supporting ingredients that can help your old pup age more gracefully. I have already seen improvement in my two seniors since starting them. My only regret is not getting them on these products sooner. And for those owners with younger dogs, pawTree has a long line of supplements to address every concern your furry friend might have. Their unique, veterinarian and pet nutritionist-developed formulas are effective and safe, and contain only quality ingredients you can feel good about.
