The Joy of Cats Community on Skool

I am excited to announce the The Joy of Cats community. It’s a group for cat lovers and people who love to talk about cats.
The new community gives any cat person a place to connect with other cat people. You can share cat pictures and memes and ask questions. Cats are my favorite, and I could talk about cats all day!
There will be giveaways at least once a month of cat products (toys, etc.) or of my cat art (still figuring this bit out). The giveaways will only be for United States addresses at this time.
There will be a monthly fee to join the community starting July 1, 2024. The fee will help with the following:
Community Benefits
Here are reasons you may want to join:

Direct access to ask Heidi anything you’d like about cats, the cat website, or the YouTube channel.
Participate in giveaways.
Talk about cats with others who also like talking about cats.
Share pictures of your cats with people who appreciate seeing cat pictures.
Ask cat-related questions.

How to Join and Use Skool
If you’ve never heard of Skool, you’re not alone. I recently learned of this platform for communities a few weeks ago.
Skool is available online, and they also have a phone app.
There are hundreds of communities on Skool that discuss different topics.
You can find The Joy of Cats Community in 2 ways:

Visit the About Page directly using a web browser (computer or phone): https://www.skool.com/the-joy-of-cats/about
Search for The Joy of Cats in the Discover Communities directory.

Once on the About Page, click the Join Group button. I am the only admin and will approve your request to join as soon as possible.
It seems you may need to have an account before you can do anything on the phone app. Therefore, you may need to use a browser app (Safari, Chrome, etc.) to create an account on your phone.

Using Skool Tips
Here are 3 tips based on my experience so far:

Sharing cat pictures from my phone is easier, so I mostly use the Skool app.
Notifications can be turned off or adjusted in your profile settings.
Skool has built-in gamification. Participate often to move up on the leaderboard! Can you reach the Cat Lady level?

Why Skool Instead of a Facebook Group, Discord, or Slack?
You may be wondering why I chose a lesser-known platform for the community. Many people already have a Facebook account or are on Discord or Slack for other groups.
The biggest reason is that Skool setup is very easy for the community manager. It also includes a classroom feature which can be accessed directly in Skool. Any courses can be accessed without members needing a separate website.
Skool is all-in-one! It is very flexible, and I can add more content to the group in the future.
My issue with Facebook groups is that unless you are actively engaged in the group, the Facebook algorithm will eventually stop showing the group content in your feed.  Of course, you can intentionally visit the group, but most people don’t, or at least I don’t.
You may be thinking Skool is yet another app or website to check. That is definitely true. I will not deny it. However, I like the Skool interface, and learning it was easy enough.
