Travis Kelce Responds To Jason’s Retirement: NFL Eagles

Moved to tears. Travis Kelce was in attendance at his brother Jason’s retirement speech. The Kansas Chiefs tight end was visibly emotional as his brother thanked him for all his support throughout their joint careers in the NFL.

In an hour-long press conference on March 3, 2024 to announce his retirement, Jason Kelce took a moment to remember the fond memories he had with his brother. “We have a small family. No cousins, one aunt, one uncle. It was really my brother and I our whole lives,” Jason explained. “We did almost everything together — competed, fought, laughed, cried and learned from each other.”

“We imagined ourselves as star players of that time. We envisioned making the winning plays day after day.” He continued, “We won countless Super Bowls in our minds before ever leaving the house.”

Jason also was fond of Travis’ support when they were younger and remembered drinking Capri Suns together packed by their mom Donna, “It made me stronger, tougher, smarter, and taught me the values of cooperation, loyalty, patience, and understanding.”

Jason Kelce played for the Philadelphia Eagles for 13 years. Once he was drafted, he quickly established himself as one of the league’s top centers and became a linchpin of the Eagles’ offensive line. Over the years, his skills and dedication to the game have earned him multiple Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors. In 2018, he added Super Bowl champion to his list of accomplishments, defeating the New England Patriots 41–33 with the Eagles. Five years later, Kelce found himself up for a Super Bowl championship again—only this time, he was facing his own brother, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Ultimately, the Chiefs won Super Bowl L.

“I won’t forget falling short to the Chiefs & the conflicted feelings of immense heartbreak… and the amount of pride I had that my brother had climbed the mountain top again,” Jason recalled about the Super Bowl rivalry.

The brothers host the New Heights podcast where they talk about football and whatever happens in their life. The supportive older sibling frequently compliments his brother’s significant other and even humorously welcomed Talyor Swift as a new member of “Chiefs Kingdom.” “Shout out to the newest members of the Chiefs Kingdom. Taylor Swift, who has officially reached the Super Bowl in her rookie year,” he said during a February episode, to which Travis responded, “Shout out to Tay! Thanks for joining the team!”
