We’ve been in Lake Placid, NY, at our vacation home for about 2 full weeks now, and it has already been such an incredible trip. From the time together exploring nature to spending evenings eating dinner at the card table and watching movies from my childhood that I loved–this trip has already fulfilled a desire in Justin and me for a slow-paced “90s summer” for us and our kids. I could go on and on, but this post is about the home things we bought upon arrival, so let’s jump into that.
So for context, we plan to renovate this house in the fall. We’re keeping the exact same footprint, aside from expanding the bathroom into the second bedroom’s closet, and opting for a straightforward update to maintain the simple life we want to live up here!
For this summer, though, we needed to have the basics to live comfortably while we’re here, without amassing too many things to put into storage when the renovation starts.
We drove to Plattsburgh, NY, about 1 hour from Lake Placid, to the nearest Target to load up on everything we needed for the summer. I was hoping to only do that drive once, but I ended up needing to go back one additional time for just a couple more things. Otherwise, we have relied on Amazon to deliver any extra home items we needed!
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten. Eleven. Twelve. Thirteen. Fourteen.
So far, I’ve been really pleased with our pots, pans, and baking sheets. They’re holding up well, and I love the ease of the non-stick surfaces.
I really love our flatware and dish set too! They’re a good size and I love the way they look.
There are no overhead lights in the bedrooms or living room, so we’re relying on daylight and lamps! I have the same cantilever lamp that we purchased for this home back in our playroom in Raleigh, so that was an easy decision to make.
There will be a lot more to buy when we fully furnish the home next year, but for now, these basics are making our summer here comfortable and easy!
